bio Although I was born in Kenya, I have spent most of my life on the move. I am fascinated by differences, in people, in geography, in ideas and I like to explore the fringes of what, to me, is conventional. Luckily in this region we have some of the most remote and visually stunning locations, events and people in the world. You can see this in my studies of the people of the northern and southern extremes of Ethiopia for example (the 'churches in the sky' and 'people of the delta' galleries). I love storytelling and try to bring viewers of my images on a journey to show intimate moments with interesting lighting, learned from my commercial photography background. My hope is that that I can bring these hard to reach places to a wider audience and maybe even inspire people to go visit. This world is amazing and I think we could all learn something from stepping outside of our comfort zones. Ive been documenting the people and landscapes of the East Africa region for two decades now and have a huge repository of images for future generations to see how their forefathers lived. With the rapid changes Ive seen, I believe this is more important than ever. When I am not on safari somewhere in the region, I work as a commercial photographer, but also in the fashion, hospitality, corporate and NGO sectors.
